PLEASE NOTE: this is a downloadable PDF file for you print to the size that you like. I recommend printing 4 to a page.
A printable set of animal-themed movement cards designed to help children build regulation and body awareness through simple, playful movement without equipment or pressure, just movement that supports their body and nervous system.
Each card features a different animal-inspired movement (like the Elephant Trunk Stretch) paired with a simple ‘Move’ instruction and an imaginative prompt to bring it to life making movement playful and not just another box to tick off.
Why movement matters:
Movement provides sensory input that helps regulate the nervous system, supporting children to focus or relax. These cards specifically support proprioception (body awareness), vestibular input (balance and movement), and interoception (awareness of internal body cues like hunger, needing the toilet, or big emotions) , which are three of the body’s eight senses, and key building blocks for emotional regulation.
Engaging in healthy movement can help children to:
• Regulate and build healthy coping strategies
• Focus, learn and connect with others
• Build body awareness
• Engage more fully in daily life
What’s included:
• A printable PDF set of animal-themed movement cards
• An intro guide explaining how and why movement supports regulation
• A body senses breakdown (proprioception, vestibular, interoception) to help you understand what’s happening for your child.
How to use them:
Use them during set movement times or breaks, integrate 1–2 into daily routines, or use them to support transitions between tasks for regulation, or just for fun. Avoid pressuring your child to use them or complete a movement in a particular way, as this may be unhelpful or triggering for some children.
