Parent & Caregiver Supports
Parent supports can look like many different things depending on what YOU need. It might be 1:1 sessions, education, telephone or email supports or a step by step plan for what to do when your child experiences a meltdown or is experiencing big emotions or challenging behaviour.
Support Networks
Making sure that everyone is on the same page when supporting a child or young person is incredibly important. I connect with schools, support workers and other healthcare providers to ensure that each child’s needs are understood and supported across environments.
Assessment
There are times where specific assessments may be necessary in order for us to better understand a child’s needs and to ensure that each child receives the best support for them. I offer a range of assessments including functional capacity, sensory and occupational.
What is Occupational Therapy?
An occupational therapist helps you to meet your goals and to do what you want and need to do. We are unique as health professionals because although we may use similar therapies to other therapists, we focus on enabling you to work on a particular goal, or occupation, such as building better relationships, taking better care of yourself, improving skills to engage in school or to return back to a favourite activity, rather than focusing only on a diagnosis. We focus on you as a person and what you want to achieve.
Accessing services
There are a few ways that you can access services: NDIS funding (plan or self-managed), Medicare (Mental Health Care Plan, Enhanced Primary Care Plan/GP Management Plan) or Private Health. You can self-refer via email or phone or access a referral from your GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist.
